Choosing the right sheen
Choosing the right sheen can affect the final look, and durability of the paint. The most common sheens for walls are Eggshell, Matte, and sometimes Pearl/Satin.
Eggshell – mid-sheen, between Matte and Pearl/Satin. Medium durability.
- Best suited for: dining rooms, living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, entryways
Matte – provides a softer light and excellent for hiding walls that have imperfections. Medium-low durability. Easy to touch-up.
- Best suited for: bedrooms, low-traffic interior rooms, offices
Special mention to Aura Bath & Spa, which is available in a matte finish. Specially formulated for a high-humidity environment, Aura Bath & Spa resists drip marks and humidity stains.
Pearl/Satin – shinier than eggshell, and more durable. High durability.
- Best suited for: kitchens, bathrooms, trim, chair rails.
