Messmer's two-part cleaning system for preparing weathered, grey, or dirty wood before staining with UV Plus or UV Plus for Hardwoods. Part A lifts dirt, mildew, and old finish residue; Part B brightens and neutralizes the wood, restoring pH balance so stain penetrates and adheres properly.
- Recommended prep step before any Messmer's stain application
- Removes grey, weathered wood colour and restores natural tone
- Powder concentrate — mix with water on site
- Essential for previously stained/treated wood and new redwood (age 6–8 weeks, then clean before staining)
How to Use
- Sweep debris off the wood surface.
- Dissolve about 1/3 cup of Part A (Cleaner) per gallon of hot water in a plastic bucket. Apply with a garden sprayer, mop, or plastic-bristle brush; let it soak briefly, agitate with a stiff brush, then rinse thoroughly.
- Mix Part B (Brightener) the same way and apply to the cleaned, wet wood. Let it dwell 10–15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Flood surrounding vegetation with water immediately after rinsing.
- Allow the wood to dry 24–48 hours before applying any Messmer's stain (Brightener can go on immediately after rinsing Cleaner — no wait needed between the two steps).
