West Hillhurst Paint & Design is Calgary's retail source for Venetian plaster, lime wash and microcement. Not a contractor, not a special order — the real Italian lime finishes, in stock on the shelf at 321 19 Street NW, with the trowels that apply them and the people who can teach you how.

What we stock

Venetian plaster

Authentic lime-based plaster that burnishes to a polished, marble-like depth. We carry Marmorino Tintoretto (fine grain, polished marble effect), Marmorino Intonaco (medium grain, for heavier architectural texture) and Stucco Lamundo (lime-based, tintable, highly polished). All three are Meoded, made in Italy.

Lime wash

Meoded Lime Wash is a slaked limestone mineral coating that gives walls a soft, weathered, cloudy plaster look — the finish people usually mean when they say they want "that limewash look." It works on interior and exterior surfaces over the matching Lime Wash Base Coat. Available in quart and gallon.

Microcement

Concretta FS is a natural microcement plaster rated for wet areas — showers, tub surrounds, backsplashes and countertops. It is how you get a seamless concrete look without the weight of actual concrete.

Decorative metallics

Pearlas Velvet produces a soft suede metallic finish with the look of Venetian plaster, in a low-VOC two-layer trowel application.

The tools that actually matter

These finishes live or die by the tool. We stock Italian-made Meoded plaster trowels in flexible, oval, long and extra-long profiles, stainless spatulas from 40 mm to 120 mm for detail and edge work, and lime wash brushes in four sizes. We also carry the sealers — including Stain Defense, an oil and water repellent that protects without changing colour or texture.

Learn it before you commit to a wall

This is the part nobody else in Calgary offers. Lime plaster is a technique, not a product you roll on, and the gap between a beautiful wall and an expensive mistake is training. So we teach it, in the store, hands on:

• Lime Wash Basics — the fundamentals of applying Meoded Lime Wash: surface prep, base coat, and brush technique.
• Intermediate Lime Plasters — builds on Basics, covering Meoded's Venetian plaster finishes and intermediate application techniques.
