Messmer's Stain Colour Samples - Calgary

Try before you commit. Each Messmer's sample is a sealed pouch of approximately 1/4 oz of real stain — enough to finish a small test area so you can judge the colour on your own wood, in your own light, before buying a gallon.

The samples are free. You pay flat-rate shipping only, or collect them free in store at 321 19 St NW, Calgary.

How to use a sample

• Test on the same wood species you plan to finish — cedar, pine, and Ipe all take colour differently.
• Use an offcut or an out-of-the-way section of the deck, not a feature board.
• Clean and dry the test area first. Stain over grey, weathered wood will not represent the finished result.
• Let it dry fully and check it in daylight. Oil finishes darken as they cure.

Choosing colours

• UV Plus — 15 colours, for cedar, pine, fir, spruce, pressure-treated and redwood.
• UV Plus for Hardwoods — Natural and Red Mahogany, for Ipe, Teak, Tigerwood and other dense tropical hardwoods.
