SICO Cetol 1 Basecoat - Calgary

SICO Cetol 1 (formerly Sikkens Cetol 1) is a premium, translucent exterior wood basecoat formulated with an alkyd/oil blend for superior penetration and adhesion to vertical wood surfaces such as siding, doors, trim, and log homes.

Specifications

• Type: Alkyd/oil translucent wood basecoat, gloss sheen
• Coverage: Smooth wood: 250–350 sq ft/gal; Rough wood: 200–300 sq ft/gal
• Dry Time: Touch-dry in 4–6 hours; recoat after a minimum of 24 hours at 68°F/65% RH (longer below 50°F or in high humidity)
• VOC: 550 g/L
• Application Temperature: 50–95°F
• Number of Coats: 1 coat as a basecoat under Cetol 23 Plus; 3 coats if used as a standalone system on outdoor furniture and fences

Recommended System

Cetol 1 is the basecoat half of the Cetol system — pair it with Cetol 23 Plus for the full two-product finish on siding, doors, trim, and logs.

• Weathered or previously coated wood: Clean and brighten with Messmer's Wood & Deck Cleaner + Brightener before applying — it works as prep for any exterior wood stain, not just Messmer's.
• Standard siding/trim system: 1 coat of Cetol 1, followed by 1–2 coats of Cetol 23 Plus.
• Outdoor furniture and fences: Cetol 1 can be used alone as a 3-coat system without a topcoat.
