Check you actually need this one.
PlasterSeal Plus is only required on horizontal surfaces — a shower floor or pan, a bench seat, a niche shelf, or a countertop. If your job is shower walls or a tub surround, PlasterGuard alone is your waterproofing and you don't need this.
Not sure? The Concretta Shower Kit builder asks about your scope and only includes it if your job calls for it — with 15% off the entire kit.
PlasterSeal Plus imparts twice the abrasion resistance of standard urethanes and 4 times that of typical epoxies. Performance characteristics, including high UV, heat and chemical resistance make PlasterSeal Plus the ideal finish coat for a wide range of installations. PlasterSeal Plus is perfectly formulated to be the waterproofing top coat for all Concretta floor and countertop installations. Installation of PlasterSeal Plus over a diluted layer of PlasterGuard will provide the highest durability surface.
Horizontal surfaces hold standing water and take foot traffic, which is why Meoded specifies a urethane topcoat over them rather than relying on PlasterGuard alone.
Specifications
- Type: 3-part component urethane waterproofing topcoat sealer
- Coverage: 12 oz: ~35 sq ft; Quart: ~100 sq ft; Gallon: ~400 sq ft — per 2-layer application
- Dry Time: ~50 minutes between layers; final layer 24–48 hours to cure
- VOC: ~48 g/L (VOC compliant)
- Application Temperature: 45–95°F
- Number of Coats: 2 layers, applied over a diluted first layer of PlasterGuard
- Working Time: Approximately 1–1.5 hours once the 3 parts are mixed
A standard shower pan is roughly 12–15 sq ft, so the 12 oz size is ample for most single-shower jobs. The gallon is by far the best value per square foot and is intended for commercial floors.
Recommended System
PlasterSeal Plus is the waterproofing topcoat for Concretta FS floor and countertop installations — always applied over a diluted base layer of PlasterGuard.
- Base: Roll on 1 layer of PlasterGuard diluted 20% with water; let dry 1–2 hours.
- Topcoat: Mix Parts A, B and the deionized water per the kit instructions (15-minute induction time), then roll on a thin first layer of PlasterSeal Plus with a foam roller. Wait ~50 minutes and roll on the second layer before the mix sets.
- Floors: Add the AntiSkid additive (1 bottle per gallon) to the mix. We don't stock it — ask and we'll bring it in with your material.
- Cure: Let the final layer dry 24–48 hours before use.
- Shower floors: Apply clear silicone along all edges where the wall meets the floor and around fixtures once sealed.
